SPRINKLE AWAY SMELLS

Instead of using room fresheners or anti-smell powders and sprays in your rubbish bin to cut down on nasty odours, simply sprinkle a handful of salt inside.  The salt acts by neutralizing unwanted smells.

Not only is salt very cheap and abundant, but using it for this purpose also helps more households eliminate the use of aerosol sprays as deodorizers, which are harmful to our health and the environment.  The cans themselves are also added garbage.  Though the steel part is recyclable, it takes a lot of energy to melt the material.  The product itself is also dangerous because it can explode if not stored or handled properly.

Now, if you're after the anti-bacterial properties of these aerosol products, you can always use the ever-reliable vinegar to disinfect instead.  Simply add salt to make it more potent, add water, and put the solution in a spray bottle .  I've tried both (just the salt and then the solution) with our garbage and it really works!  It's a very cheap, safe, and effective garbage deodorizer and disinfectant in one!

Let's do our part.
