GREASE IT OUT

Don't smother kitchen grease in increasingly powerful detergents, which are toxic to the environment.  First, try a simple mixture of salt and bicarbonate of soda.  When mixed together, these two have powerful degreasing properties, without causing any harm to the environment.

My home has been free from strong detergents and household cleaners for a long time now.  It not only makes me feel safe that my kids (and dogs) don't get exposed to those "poisons", but it also gives me peace of mind that our home does not contribute to poisoning our waters and soils as well.  Anyway, I personally have not tried this mixture before since baking soda and vinegar have both been very effective from the start.  But for those of you who have not tried using these safe and natural ingredients as cleansers, you should!  They're not only safe, but they're super economical as well.

hi dar! thanks for this tip! where do you buy bicarbonate of soda? how many parts bicarbonate, salt?

hi, cookie! it's actually baking soda. you can get it from any grocery store. btw, we do have local brands (which i prefer to use), so there's no need to get the imported ones. :) i think equal parts of both ingredients will do.
