Instead of disposable dishcloths that have to be thrown away and replaced every few weeks, choose cotton cloths. They'll stand the test of time and can be washed and reused for months.

This makes a lot of sense. Cotton does stand the test of time. One (1) cotton washcloth will outlast around 3-4 (maybe more) disposable ones. I would cut worn out shirts or house shorts that are soft enough for cleaning and wiping tables and countertops. If you still have your kids' old white cotton shirts that you intend to donate to charity, you can keep a few of them to serve as washcloths (if that's okay with you).
The lesser stuff we dispose of that just end up in landfills, the better for our environment.
