Last December 2008, I was able to give my donations to Haribon Foundation which I have posted about before. What I donated to them were the funds I've collected through my Charitable Handmade Soaps and I also included some of my handmade soap scraps.
Just recently, they e-mailed me pictures of the organizations that received my handmade soap scraps. They gave me a choice on what organizations I wanted my donations to go to. I told them I wanted those in charge of planting more trees and those with a lot of women and children involved. The monetary donation goes to Haribon's advocacy and awareness raising efforts on forest conservation in particular to Haribon's ROAD to 2020 campaign which seeks to restore 1 million hectares of forest by 2020.
Here are the photos of the two (2) organizations receiving them:

SHG President, Moises Ohao, of Sitio Badjang, Brgy. Sibahay, Lanuza, SDS showing a pack of BY NATURE Handmade Soap Scraps given to them. The group is composed mostly of young women, mostly mothers.
SHG means Self-Help Group and in Visayan it means "transparency." It is a group of men and women (majority) who live in Bgy. Burgos in Cortes, Surigao del Sur who want to improve their livelihoods. Their current undertaking now is a small banana plantation wherein they sell the fresh bananas. They have also undergone some training on banana chip processing but of course, are still in need of better product development, packaging and marketing. Haribon is helping them source out better banana stocks and will link them to other institutions that can improve their skills in both growing the bananas and processing them. The banana plantation will lessen their dependence on other forest products. It will also prevent them from opening new kaingin areas that will destroy the forest.
